8.9 Atmospheric curing device

1. The role and formation of atmospheric device
The atmospheric curing device is designed in accordance with the API specification, and it is used to curing the cement testing sample. It can cure many samples at the same time. It is equipped with a temperature controller to control the water box temperature.
The atmospheric curing device is constituted by the electrical heater, temperature controller and stainless steel box.


2. The operational procedure of atmospheric curing device
a. Turn on the power, adjust the temperature controller, and set the temperature parameter needed.
b. Add enough water into the water box, turn on the heater switch, increase the water box temperature to the preset value.
c. Assemble the copper testing model. The lubricating oil should be spread evenly and densely. Spread a little lubricating oil on the baseboard. And scrap off the remainder with scraper. The test modal around should be spread evenly to avoid the sample forming notch when the slurry is poured into it.
d. Prepare the cement slurry according to the API specification.
e. Pour the prepared slurry into the testing model up to the half; stir it for 30 times to eliminate the bubbles, then fill the model to the full and stir for 30 times. Scrap off the remainder slurry, cover it with plate. If the model is leaky, the sample should be discarded.
f. Put the model into the water box, keep the plate from slipping. It is better to make the test model far away from the bottom. This can make putting the model easily and the water circuiting around the model when curing.
g. Curing the test model at consistent temperature and pick out the model after the required time.


3. The maintenance of atmospheric curing device
a. Clean the test model completely after every experiment
b. Keep the water box clean and change water regularly.
